In this report, requested by the Minister for Justice and Equality, the Inspectorate examined the policies, practices and procedures used in the prevention and investigation of crime. The report comprises eleven distinct parts dealing with every aspect of crime investigation, from crime prevention through to crime detection and prosecution.
It also includes an addendum dealing with crime related issues previously identified in the so-called ‘Guerin Report’ pertaining to allegations made by Sergeant Maurice McCabe. The report makes more than 200 recommendations for change to be implemented on a short, medium and long-term basis.
